Service description Essay Excel Hygiene’s services are planned around 2 major categories: Cleaning and Waste Management. Cleaning is sub-divided in to pathogen removal, and pest management. Waste Management is sub-divided in to on-site and off-site operations. This service structure is designed to meet all surveyed customer requirements, and equals the broadest service range offered by any of the major competitors in the segment. All services will not be relevant for each site, but the range will support the positioning of the company has a single-window service for all cleaning and waste disposal needs. However, waste operations will be limited to bio-medical materials which cannot be placed in normal collection areas, or allowed to enter sewage systems. Similarly, cleaning will be restricted to keeping pathogens below infectious levels. Cleaning in the lay sense of the term will not be taken in to contracts because of the low value addition and non-specialized nature of the work. Excel Hygiene will offer service guarantees in terms of time and quality. This means that crews will visit sites at agreed frequencies. Operations will conform to regulations for bio-medical waste and will meet infection control norms. The latter can be confirmed by independent microbiology tests on ambient air, water, surfaces, and organic materials. Microbiology for culture preservation, chemical sourcing, algorithm development, technical audit, and franchise development will be in-house functions. Treatment operations, off-site incineration and compacting, and operation validation will be outsourced to trained franchisees and to independent microbiology laboratories. This division of labor will serve to protect the new company’s proprietary bacterial cultures, and will reassure customers about the effects of treatment at the same time. Management Structure Excel Hygiene has been established as a closely held private company. 90% of the paid-up equity has been provided by venture capitalists, which have also provided guarantees and collateral for long-term loans and revolving working capital funds. 10% of the equity has been furnished from the savings of the executive team, and they have equity rights from their shares of projected profits, to the extent of another 10% of the ownership. Therefore, the long term ownership will reside to the extent of 20% with the founding executives, while 80% will be held by venture capitalists. The latter are bound to hold their investments for at least 5 years after start-up. The company may list on a stock exchange after this first period. Only one of the founding executives has a qualification in Business Management, so she will function as the Chief Executive Officer of Excel Hygiene. The venture capitalists will have the right to nominate a person from their organization to head Management Services, which will include all Finance and Accounting functions. For example, a prince might be defined by his "royal blood," or a weak man described as having "thin blood." Close friends may be "blood brothers," or families may have a "blood feud." In William Faulkner's Light in August, the image of blood permeates the themes of sexuality, race, and religion. Blood is common to all of these themes: it is evident in reproductive cycles and births, it is a medium for the genetic passage of race from one generation to the next, and it serves as a symbol of life or death in many religions. Faulkner centers these powerful images of blood around Joe Christmas, the main character, whose blood, as a force giving him the will to live, is strong despite his sins. Christmas associates physical blood with his impressions of women, defines races and genders by the smell of their blood, and is guilty and damned because of the darkness in his "black blood." Christmas's view of the world and of issues Faulkner intimately relates to him, in particular sexuality, race, and religion, is tinted by the images of blood revolving around him.    Blood is one of the most important elements in Christmas's view of sexuality. He has a twisted perception of women and his sexual role due to his traumatic first exposure to sexuality at the age of five, in which he perceived the sex act as violent and disgusting. On the morning of the 16 March 1978, the oil tanker Amoco Cadiz owned by Amoco Transport Co. suffered a technical failure of the steering system off the coast of Finistere in Brittany, France. The tanker was transporting 227,000 tonnes of crude oil from the Persian Gulf to Rotterdam (Netherlands) when the ship began to drift towards the coastline in a heavy storm. (Tides, 2008). The reason for the steering gear failure was seen to be because of the stormy weather conditions that the ship was facing.At 9:15 the Captain Pasquale Bandari hoisted the international signal for â€Å"Not Under Command. † But he did not request assistance until 11:20, when his engineer determined that the damage was irreparable. Despite all the efforts made by the crews of both ships, the Amoco Cadiz started drifting to shore where touching the bottom ripped open the hull and storage tanks before sto pping on the Portsall Rocks on the Breton coast. cedre, 2008)The crew of the tanker was rescued by helicopter, but the ship broke in two releasing 230,000 tons of crude oil. This spread through the English Channel. The oil spill polluted approximately 300 kilometres of coastline, destroying fisheries, oysters and seaweed beds and also 76 beaches in the Breton community. (Lenntech, 2006) This was seen as the worst oil disaster the world had seen at that time. After the steering had failed the captain had made some unwise decisions that were made under pressure. It took 1 hour 45 minutes before the tug boat was called for.It also took 1 hour 30 minutes to negotiate a towing contract this did not help with the language problems with both parties. The second tow for the ship was very badly coordinated. All of these examples led to the ship splitting in half and losing all of the oil. (Kristiansen, 2005) Having a single propeller and also a single rudder the Amoco Cadiz was at risk of th e steering gear failing. This became a reality when it happened and the crew could do nothing to repair it. Abolishment of Capital Punishment Capital punishment should be abolished for the following reasons. 1) It violates the Eight Amendment of the use of cruel and unusual punishment, for which the Supreme Court has vacillated. 2) It is a form of premeditated murder. 3) It promotes racism. 4) It can be administered to innocent individuals through tainted evidence. 5) The death penalty does not deter criminals from committing violent crimes.
